What is the temperature rating for the Sierra Bundle and Baja Bundle?

We haven’t done an official ASTM rating on the Badger Bed system because ASTM International does not have one for modular sleep systems, however, they have tests for mattresses and sleeping bags, but not a combined bedroll

Temperature ratings are extremely subjective so you’ll need to consider your individual needs for what is right for you.  In addition to temperature ratings, there are other factors to consider such as fill weight and quality, fabrics as well as your own metabolism and willingness to be uncomfortable.  Other environmental factors can also effect the comfort rating such as humidity or wind.  

That said, here is what Born Outdoor estimates based on our experiences in the field using the following Badger Bed Components:

• The Therm-A-Rest MondoKing mattress is ASTM tested and has an R7 insulation rating and it should be good to -45 F so you won’t be getting any cold from below.  

• Using a Baja Quilt and Mohave Sheets the bundle is good to 40 degrees.

• With the Cascade Flannel sheets and a Sierra Down quilt we suggest it’s good to 30 degrees. If you add the Baja Quilt, down to 10 degrees and with two Sierra Quilts should get you to zero degrees easily enough.

  *Testing was done using ground tents without a heat source at these lower temps.

Is your Badger Bed and Portage Duffel Bag Waterproof?

The Badger Bed and Portage Duffle Bags are not waterproof nor are they dry bags. We designed our products with a higher emphasis on breathablilty for outdoor comfort. We use highly weather resistant materials which hold up well if outside in the weather.

Do you ship internationally?
